What's the "Change CSS" Menu?
I maintain a clear ideal for website design that involves separating the content of a site from its appearance and structure. This is generally accomplished by confining the layout and design of a website to cascading stylesheets, or CSS. CSS allows web designers to completely format the appearance of HTML using files that are separate from the HTML - this makes updating the appearance of a site much easier.
My site is formatted in this way. In order to more clearly show my abilities as a site designer, I've developed a number of stylesheets to change the appearance and layout of this site. My web portfolio largely showcases my web development skills in PHP and MySQL. The appearance of these sites was dictated by my employer, and thus their layout was out of my control.
I tend to use my own images in the various layouts for this site. I create images in Photoshop, as well as using my own photography.
Below are some notes on each of the stylesheets I've created.
- Seagulls - This is the first layout I designed for this site. It uses my own photos from a trip to San Francisco. The design is fixed-width and is compatible with screen resolutions as low as 800x600.
- Blocks - This is a slightly more "girly" layout. I designed the header images myself.
